“Dollars for Dogs” campaign for Google's sister, Skype!

When litters are born at Kansas Specialty Dog Service, each litter has a theme which determines the names of the puppies. Google was born into the “Internet/Search Engine” litter. Skype is Google’s sister, and works at Lexington Trails Middle School with Mrs. Russell, their school counselor.

Skype became very ill recently, and they discovered she had a heart arrhythmia. Veterinarians tried medication, which didn’t work. Their last hope was a cardio ablation, which is commonly performed on humans, but not dogs. The cardio ablation surgery, X-rays, blood work, travel, hotel, and 6-month check up is estimated to cost around $8,500 total.

The GRE Student Council helped raise money to have Google in their classroom for a full day! The “Dollars for Dogs” campaign started on Tuesday, January 16th and ran through Friday, January 19th. Ms. Dulaney's class, who donated the most, was rewarded with Google in their classroom for an entire day!

Today, a check was presented to Mrs. Russell at Lexington Trails Middle School for $2,188.09 to help with Skype's surgery and recovery!

Great job, GRES students!

Thanks!
Ashley
